We're off to a flying start!

Welcome to another wonderful year in Room 5!

This year we are part of the Kapowai Pod.  Kapowai means Dragonfly in Te Reo.  Our four classes of our Middle Pod work together, just like the four wings of a dragonfly.

As a class we have made a beautiful piece of art which can be seen in the window outside of our class.

We have been enjoying getting to know each other so far this year.  Our Exploration SPACE and workshops have been a success and we look forward to learning new and exciting things.

Room 5 have been keeping busy preparing a Special Treat.  Room 5 have been busy making some special gifts for a special someone for Christmas. They have even decorated the wrapping paper themselves. Here are some of the wrapped up presents.

Calendar Art

Our Room has looked like a bomb site at times over the past few weeks but it has all been for a good cause!  Our calendar art has come in the form of landscape collages using magazines, so as you can imagine there were bits of magazine everywhere! They are coming along very nicely and we look forward to seeing all of the finished products. Here are some so far:

City Gallery and Te Papa

We had a fantastic time at City Gallery and Te Papa last week.  We learnt about Maori Cultural art and then enjoyed exploring the new nature exhibit at Te Papa. While we were at the City Gallery we made our own screen prints of gourds with letters that symbolise something of our choice.  You can see them up close in the Learning Street before they go home at the end of term.
